Day 1: Kampala –Bwindi (Travel Time +8hrs)
Our guide/driver picks you at 7:00 am from your hotel or place of residence in Kampala. Drive to Mbarara (283km from Kampala) via Masaka. Make a first stop over at Equator crossing for snacks and photography. Proceed with a visit to Igongo Cultural village this is more rewarding and amazing as you visit the Ankole museum. Lunch break is made at Agip Motel Mbarara. After lunch, drive to Bwindi. This is the lushest highland rain forest on earth, filled with primates and exotic birds, valleys, hilltops and papyrus swamps. Overnight and meals at Gorilla Mist Camp (Mid range) or Trekkers Tarven Camp (Budget facility) Meal plan: Dinner
Day 2: Gorilla trekking Bwindi
Begin the day with breakfast ready for trekking, which begins at 8:00 am with a briefing from the UWA staff. Ensure to carry along with you rain jacket, drinking water, snacks, jungle boots etc The guides will lead you inside the jungle to see the shy Primates for a group you have been booked for. Do not forget to take your lunch boxes and all the necessary gear to track the rare Mountain Gorilla, perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. The tracking may take between 2 and 6 hours but it’s well worth the effort. The afternoon is spent on a village walk. The Village Walk gives you a great opportunity to see how the people surrounding Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. It also is a great way to support the local community in a direct way. The Walk begins with your guide at your Rest Camp and is most informative, rewarding to the average visitor. It will amaze you how resourceful the local people are as you see and learn their ways. Day 3: Bwindi- Ishasha -Queen Elizabeth
Today’s drive is through what is probably East Africa’s most spectacular scenery. Head to Ishasha section for a mini game drive in search for the rare tree climbing lions, drive to Queen Elizabeth Mweya side for an evening boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel which connects Lakes Edward and George, for large numbers of buffalo and hippo. Dinner and overnight at either Mazike Valley Lodge (Mid range) or Enganzi Safari Lodge Meal plan: (B, L, D)
Day 4: Morning game drive-Kibale-Bigodi walk
Morning game drives in Uganda’s best park, where all the big game can be seen in abundance. Famous for elephant and kob, expect to see some rarer animals like giant forest hog. There are 638 recorded bird species in the park! Thereafter after head to Kibale National park for lunch. You will go for a nature walk to the Bigodi swamp- to see unique flora and fauna. Meals and overnight at Primate Lodge-Forest Cottages (Mid Lodge) or Chimpanzee Guest House (Budget facility). Meal plan: (B, L, D)
Day 5: Kibale Chimpanzee Habituation Experience
Today is dedicated for Chimpanzee Habituation Experience. Start the day with an morning early breakfast – a packed lunch and you are off before dawn breaks into the forest. You meet your guide and you are off to where the chimpanzees build nests the night before. Dawn is just breaking and the chimpanzee community you are going to be with the rest of the day is rising from their sleep in the nests.
Your day will be full, your camera will fill up with quality pictures of the chimpanzees and you will get to learn to identify them as individuals by their markings, sometimes scars and other unique features that make them stand apart from rest. Besides everything described there are the most colorful butterflies, plants and trees that will amaze you –the setting is simply awesome. Day 6: Crater visit-Return to Kampala/Entebbe.
Morning guided walk in the crater lakes area of the park for outstanding cultural visit. Thereafter you will be transferred back to Kampala or to Entebbe International Airport to catch up with your flight back home or to your next destination Meal plan: (B, L) End of service
