For a visitor to be allowed to track the Mountain Gorillas in Uganda’s Bwindi forest national park one must hold a gorilla trekking or tracking permit and this must be valid for a given date. A gorilla permit gives access to a visitor to go tracking Gorillas in Bwindi Forests Park, it spells out the full names of the guests including all his passport details, these are checked while on ground to verify the details of the tourists headed for Gorilla trekking in relation to his date booked for Gorilla tracking
Tourists/visitors booked for gorilla trekking can reschedule a gorilla permit from the original dates booked for to another future date of the year. Usually, this can be brought up by sickness or any eventualities that were not taken in to consideration or unexpected event at a given time. A visitor is expected to communicate this event in writing to a company he/she had booked with for a gorilla safari or only the gorilla trekking permits with the new dates of tracking gorillas.
Note: The tour company shall then check the proposed new dates of Gorilla trekking before rescheduling the permits and confirm availability. If permits are available for the new dates, then gorilla permit rescheduling shall be possible. Your safari company will then write an official letter to Uganda Wildlife Authority seeking and requesting for Gorilla permit rescheduling to new dates. Should the permits on a new dates are not available, the client shall be advised to find another date suitable.
Uganda Wildlife Authority reserves all rights on rescheduling gorilla trekking permits. Uganda Wildlife Authority shall approve the request and on approval the reschedule shall be effected to new dates. However, this now comes at a fee of US$ 150.00 and the visitor is required to pay for this before the Gorilla permit reschedule is done by Uganda Wildlife Authority
