Chose to set off for Magashi camp, a luxury wilderness brand property located inside Akagera National Park for an exclusive game drive experience as a family and a private boat on Lake Ranyakazinga for aquatic life, incredible sweeping sights over the floodplains alongside the elegance of a plunge pool, sitting room, separate bedroom and bathroom, indoor showers.

A family in a group of 6 will have a private game drive vehicle and boat with a private guide. This means that the activities are very flexible and can be adjusted to the guest’s wishes.

On arrival, the program will be discussed with their guide.

Day 1:
–          Arrival by game drive to Magashi in time for lunch.
–          After lunch check in to the room, and meet for high tea around 15:30
–          At 16:00 head out on the boat or game drive (in an open game drive vehicle) depending on wildlife sightings in the area – return to the camp (around 19:30) with a night drive whilst trying to find leopard with help of our leopard trackers.

Day 2:
–          At 6:00 breakfast and at 6:30 game drive, possibly combined with a visit to the rhino boma (if not this morning, the rhino visit will be done during one of the other game drives).
–          During the game drive use the telemetry to track the lions.
–          Return to the camp for brunch/lunch around 10:30 depending on sightings.
–          High tea at 15:30
–          At 16:00 head out on the boat or game drive depending on wildlife sightings in the area – return to the camp (around 19:30) with a night drive whilst trying to find leopards with help of our leopard trackers.

Day 3:
–          Early breakfast and depart the lodge.
–          Morning game drive via Kilala Plains to the North Gate to meet the shuttle transfer.

If the guests are interested they can do additional birding and/or fishing trips on the boat. This Private Luxury family safari in Rwanda will continue to Volcanoes National Park, we recommend taking a helicopter flight to Volcanoes from Akagera. Arriving or landing at Muzanze airstrip, as a family you will be picked up and transferred to either One & only Gorillas Nest Lodge or Bisate Lodge. We recommend meeting a gorilla doctor that evening for a gorilla lecture very informative talk about mountain gorillas and their life in preparation for your next day’s gorilla trekking in Rwanda.

Both properties have complementary onsite activities that a family can take part in while at the lodge including yoga, sauna, mindfulness meditation, cycling around the lodge, etc. For a 2 or 3-night stay at some of the top luxury brands in Volcanoes National Park, you will then visit Nyungwe Forests to enjoy the One & Only Nyungwe House Resort.
