Travel to Uganda is returning with relaxed COVID-19 restrictions

Travel to Uganda is slowly returning back to normal with the recent suspension of mandatory COVID-19 testing for arriving passengers. It is never too late to start planning a perfect gorilla trekking safari to Uganda and explore Bwindi forest national park home to mountain gorillas.

We are confident enough that in 2022 many travelers are starting to resurrect plans to visit Uganda after being disrupted in the last 2 years.  Following the recent announcement by the government of Uganda, that the mandatory testing of all passengers at Entebbe International Airport has been suspended, tourists are now required to present a negative COVID -19 PCR negative results valid within 72hrs upon arrival. All passengers will be screened at the airport. Departing passengers will also be required to present a negative departure PCR test taken 72hrs prior to boarding.

The suspension of mandatory testing is informed by:

-The decline in positive cases identified at the airport
-Reduction in global threat on new variants of concern (VoC) and therefore reduced risk of importation of VoC that will increase community transmission.

Information Note for Passengers Departing from Rwanda.

  • Travelers should monitor for MVD symptoms, including fever, severe headaches, muscle aches, vomiting, and diarrhea, before departing from Rwanda and seek medical advice immediately if they experience these symptoms.
  • Expect routine temperature checks using Thermo-Scan Cameras and the use of hand sanitizing stations.
  • All passengers exiting the country will be asked to answer a short symptom-screening questionnaire with RBC staff to ensure their well-being and the safety of others. Alternatively, passengers can complete a declaration form here, download the QR code, and present it upon arrival at the airport.
