Uganda’s Lockdown Lifted & Tourism Remains Open

Uganda’s Lockdown Lifted & Tourism Remains Open. Uganda for the last 42 days has been in total lockdown, nearly 80% of businesses and movement across the country was restricted. Entebbe International Airport remained opened to facilitate tourism activities.

The country went into lockdown on the 18th June 2021 with restrictive measures to control the spread of the pandemic within the population and all kinds of gatherings were prohibited. BOOK NOW

Yesterday on 30th July 2021, the lockdown was lifted countrywide allowing free movements of public and private transportation.  Tourism activities country-wide remained open and all passengers arriving in the country must have a PCR negative test. Visiting all national parks in Uganda is now permitted including those seeking to track mountain gorillas in Bwindi Forest National Park and Mgahinga National Park. Guests can combine a wildlife safari experience with a chimpanzee trek in the Kibale forest for a fun-filled adventure.

Tourists are free to visit Uganda now in strict adherence to COVID-19 healthy guidelines and regulations including, hand sanitization, wearing of masks at all times while in public, and keeping a social distance. Visitors and citizens are reminded of the critical importance of complying the healthy measures.

Tourists to Uganda or Rwanda are required to have a departure COVID -19 test within 72hrs prior to their departure and this test costs US$ 50.00

Information Note for Passengers Departing from Rwanda.

  • Travelers should monitor for MVD symptoms, including fever, severe headaches, muscle aches, vomiting, and diarrhea, before departing from Rwanda and seek medical advice immediately if they experience these symptoms.
  • Expect routine temperature checks using Thermo-Scan Cameras and the use of hand sanitizing stations.
  • All passengers exiting the country will be asked to answer a short symptom-screening questionnaire with RBC staff to ensure their well-being and the safety of others. Alternatively, passengers can complete a declaration form here, download the QR code, and present it upon arrival at the airport.
